Paws for a Cause walkathon

The Ontario SPCA Sudbury Branch had its 16th annual walkathon on Sunday, called Paws for a Cause. Droves of animal lovers showed up with plegdes. Many pooches were dressed up in costumes. The event raised more than $12,000.

 The Ontario SPCA Sudbury Branch had its 16th annual walkathon on Sunday, called Paws for a Cause. Droves of animal lovers showed up with plegdes. Many pooches were dressed up in
costumes.

The event raised more than $12,000. Lee Duguid, pictured here with her dog Yogi, won the top fundraising prize. She raised $3,501.39.

Duguid has entered the walkathon for the past 16 years. The organization sold hotdogs and humburgers to raise additional funds. Various prizes were handed out for best costume, shortest legs and longest tail. Funds raised from this event are used locally to fund cruelty investigations and to help care for animals in the shelter.
