Terry Hayes, whose photography is often featured in Northern Life, took a day trip to Manitoulin to shoot the fall colours.

“I timed it just right, they were in full effect,” he wrote to us in an e-mail. “I hiked up the Cup and Saucer trail. The sun was shining but the winds were howling, making me a little leery of getting too close to the edge. Amazingly I had the place all to myself, (though I) met a few hikers on the way down. It’s a place that anyone — who can — should visit.

While I was up there I got to thinking about folks who would not be able to make the hike up. It gives purpose to what I do. Everyone can see it through my camera.”
