Rainbow Cinemas has announced that starting Jan. 23, it will dedicate one of its six screens exclusively to showcase art, specialty and unique first-run movies at its downtown Sudbury location.

Tom Hutchinson, the spokesperson for Magic Lantern Theatres and Rainbow Cinemas, said "Sudbury movie-goers have an insatiable hunger for quality films. Seasonal film festivals or sporadic screenings offer limited choices. Our new policy will enable movie aficionados to enjoy our showcase presentations during any one of the multiple screenings held every day of the year."

The award-winning Rachel Getting Married will launch the series. The film is filled with the rich and eclectic character Kym (Anne Hathaway) who returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister Rachel (Rosemarie Dewitt). Hathaway brings her comic one-liners and knack for bombshell drama to the screen.

The admission prices for Rainbow Cinema's showcase movies will be capped at $4 for matinées and Tuesdays, and $7 during evenings (excluding discount Tuesdays).

Rainbow Cinema is located in Sudbury's downtown Rainbow Centre Mall at Elm Street and Notre Dame Avenue. For further information call 670-8885.
