Rapper Nelly is coming to Sudbury with fellow rapper Sean Kingston.
Special guest Peter Jackson is also performing at the Oct. 5 concert. Not the award-winning movie director, but the Durham-based hip hop artist.
Tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. July 20, and start at $88.54. They'll be available online at www.greatersudbury.ca/tickets, by phoning 705-671-3000, and by visiting the Sudbury Arena Box Office at 240 Elgin St.
Nelly first hit the scene with his debut solo album, Country Grammar, in 2000, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and peaked at No. 1.
Earlier this month, he made headlines for selling a 50 per cent stake of his back catalog for $50 million.
His most recent setlist, at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair on July 14, extended 31 songs, beginning with “Party People,” and closing with “Just a Dream.”
Sean Kingston is a Jamaican singer/rapper known for his dance-friendly R&B and hip-hop songs, while Peter Jackson has been making a name for himself, and promotes himself as the “one of the hardest-working rappers in Canada.”
Also on the horizon at the Sudbury Community Arena is a Sept. 21 set by comedian Jim Jefferies, children's performers The Wiggles on Oct. 6, and rock group The Glorious Sons on Nov. 29.
