On Thursday March 27 at 10 am, 9,549 students from 47 Sudbury and Manitoulin schools will help promote nutrition month by participating in the BIG CRUNCH.

The students will chomp down on English cucumbers, which will be delivered to all participating schools, to help promote healthy eating. Educators will be provided with resources to educate students about fruits and vegetables and the importance of healthy eating.

Botanically, cucumbers are actually a fruit and their skin is a good source of Vitamin K.

The event is sponsored by Breakfast for Learning, Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, Harvest King, Sudbury Food Bank and the Sudbury and Manitoulin Student Nutrition Advisory Committee.

For more information, phone Angele Young, student nutrition program co-ordinator, at 671-1941, ext. 225.
