Sudbury composer selected for international music prize

A composition by Sudbury composer Robert Lemay has been selected as a finalist for the International Composition Prize Luxembourg 2007, a prestigious international composition contest organized by the Luxembourg Society for Contemporary Music.

A composition by Sudbury composer Robert Lemay has been selected as a finalist for the International Composition Prize Luxembourg 2007, a prestigious international composition contest organized by the Luxembourg Society for Contemporary Music.

The jury selected Lemay's Mare Tranquilitantis, which means Sea of Tranquility, as one of the four finalists from 152 entries from 38 countries.

The final stage of the competition takes place in Ettelbruck, Luxembourg on October 27 when the jury will award first, second, third and fourth place prizes. The top prize is worth 3,000 Euros.

The international jury will consist of Xiaogang Ye from China, Jurgen Blume from Germany, John Casken from Great Britain, Klaus Ager from Austria, and Marcel Wengler from Luxembourg.

Lemay is the president and co-artistic director of the 5-Penny New Music Concerts in Sudbury.
