Sudbury's 2009 Pride Festival runs July 13-19, and features a variety of events. Here are a few of the highlights:

The festival's opening ceremonies take place July 13 at 10 a.m. at Tom Davies Square, where the rainbow flag will be raised.

On July 15, there will be a 7 p.m. screening of Milk at Rainbow Cinemas. The Academy Award winning movie features the story of American gay activist and politician Harvey Milk.

On July 17 at 1 p.m., Youth Pride Games will take place in Memorial Park. The day will feature games, laughter and fun, according to the festival's schedule of events. Prizes are available for those who wear pride colours.

The 12th annual Pride March will take place July 19 at 12:30 p.m. Marchers meet in Memorial Park. Participants are encouraged to bring noisemakers, signs and spirit.

At 1:30 p.m., following the march, there will be a barbecue and family picnic at Tom Davies Square. There will be food and drinks on sale, along with items from local vendors. There will also be kids games, information booths and music.

At 3:45 p.m., there will be a flag lowering and closing ceremonies at Tom Davies Square.
