A Sudbury woman pitted her smarts against a bunch a fifth graders last night, Oct. 25, on the show Are you smarter than a Canadian 5th grader, the Canadian version of a popular American TV show.
April Whalen, a 34-year-old marketing coordinator and wife of a nickel miner, made a grand entrance to the stage, playing the bagpipes as she walked out and then continuing to play as she lied down.
She was the second contestant to take the stage, hammering through the first question only to stumble a bit on the second before the episode ended. She will continue her run to the one million dollar mark on the second of five episodes to air on Global on Halloween night at 9pm.
