Summerfest takes over Market Square

Sudbury's annual Summerfest is taking place this weekend in and around Market Square. In addition to local producers, craftspeople, artisans and food vendors, Market Square is also bustling with a midway.

Sudbury's annual Summerfest is taking place this weekend in and around Market Square.

In addition to local producers, craftspeople, artisans and food vendors, Market Square is also bustling with a midway. Free shows will be put on during the day by local artists on the main stage, as well as the acoustic stage, and a family stage will provide entertainment for everyone.

In celebration of Summerfest coming downtown, Market Square is offering extended hours on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Elgin Street between Durham and Elm streets have been blocked off for the festival. The streets will be closed until Monday, Aug. 30. The outdoor music festival runs from Aug. 27 to 29.

Who’s playing when on the main stage

The following main stage shows require tickets. Other performances earlier in the day are free.

Saturday, Aug. 28 7:15-7:45 p.m. - Frankie Whyte and
The Dead Idols
8-8:45 p.m. - These Kids Wear Crowns
9-10 p.m. - Fefe Dobson
10:30-11:45 p.m. - Faber Drive

Sunday, Aug. 29
7-7:45 p.m. - The Joys
8-9 p.m. - Headpins
9:30-11 p.m. - 54-40 

Advance tickets to evening shows on the main stage cost $32.75, and weekend passes to the annual festival are $89. Tickets at the gate for shows on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28 cost $42.50, and $47.80 for Aug. 29. Weekend passes at the gate cost $108.
