Some of the highlights of the day include the walk, barbecue, vendors, exhibits and the many contests for your canine friends to enjoy. Some of these contests include; best dressed, longest tail, biggest ears and shortest legs. For participants there are also prizes for top five pledges. Pledge forms can still be picked up at the Sudbury SPCA at 760 Notre Dame Ave., various local animal retailers and animal hospitals in Greater Sudbury.

With only four days left for pledges to be submitted, time is running out for your chance to be entered into a draw for the prize of a Walt Disney All-Star Resort holiday trip for two, courtesy of Gerry Lougheed Jr. and hundreds of dollars in gift cards, courtesy of the New Sudbury Centre, a press release stated.
All funds raised through the walkathon remain in Sudbury and are used to fund local cruelty investigations and help care for the many animals in the shelter. In 2008 alone, the Sudbury Branch adopted out more than 500 homeless animals and responded to hundreds of animal cruelty cases, including the investigation of one of the largest puppy mills ever found in northern Ontario.
