Tickets for Theatre Cambrian's second annual summer dinner theatre production, Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, are now on sale.

"We have recognized that the availability of live theatre in the summer months is very limited," said Theatre Cambrian's executive director, Mark Mannisto in a news release. "Come Back to the 5 and Dime promises to be a dinner theatre unlike any that Theatre Cambrian has produced thus far. We have strayed a bit from the usual slapstick farce that we normally produce and have chosen a script that allows all seven women in the cast an opportunity to let their true acting ability shine."

Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, which is directed by Mannisto, takes place in a small-town dime store in West Texas. The "Disciples of James Dean" gather for their twentieth reunion. Now adults, they were young when Dean filmed, Giant, two decades earlier in nearby Marfa.  One of the women was an extra in the film, and has a child whom she says was conceived with Dean during the shoot.

The ladies' congenial reminiscences mingle with flashbacks of their youth. Then, the arrival of a stunning, but familiar stranger, sets off a series of confrontations that smash their delusions and expose bitter disappointments.

With a predominantly female cast, this production is full of homespun humor, the news release stated. The production runs July 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 at the Jubilee Centre.

"Because of the enormous success of our dinner theatre productions, Theatre Cambrian has added a fifth performance of the show on Thursday, July 24," said Mannisto.

Tickets are $40 each and include a catered buffet by Diana's Catering. They are available at Records on Wheels, or reservations can be made by Visa or MasterCard by phone at 524-7317.
