It was a record-breaking season for YES Theatre, as a pair of productions kept patrons coming through the doors for more than a month.

YES Theatre proudly produced two large musicals this summer, Mamma Mia and the currently running James and the Giant Peach.

Both productions welcomed extensions due to overwhelming ticket demand.

Mamma Mia extended an additional two weeks, and James and the Giant Peach has been extended until Aug. 31.

The 2019 YES Theatre Summer Festival was the longest consecutive arts and culture event in the city's history- with 43 days of artistic programming and welcoming more than 10,000 patrons.

“It has been incredibly overwhelming to see the tremendous outpouring of support from the community for these two productions," said Alessandro Costantini, YES Theatre artistic director.

"The last number of years some of our city's arts and culture organizations have struggled, and I feel this has cast a general negativity on the arts and culture community. The reality is that our community is thriving. We are home to some of the greatest artists in the country; a plethora of people who are passionate about Sudbury; about staying here and working here."

This summer saw an abundance of cultural events that continue to place our community on the national stage as a cultural epicentre. The success of our summer festival has been overwhelming and we now look forward to welcoming major additions to our artistic programming to continue to offer sudbury audiences and artists world class experiences.”
