$122 K boost for Children’s Treatment Centre

Children’s Treatment Centre of Health Sciences North is receiving an additional annual investment of $122,500 from the province to provide children and youth with improved access to rehabilitative services.

These treatment centres provide a wide range of services, including physical, occupational, and speech and language therapy.

“We are abundantly pleased that this funding has been granted to our Children’s Treatment Centre,” said Jeff Sampson, clinical manager, of the Children’s Treatment Centre at Health Sciences North.

“This impacts our ability to provide and sustain quality care for our children with disabilities in Greater Sudbury and the surrounding region.”

Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci said the Children’s Treatment Centre does fantastic work. “This additional annual funding will allow the C.T.C. to serve more children,” he said.

The Ontario government is also committed to expanding access to integrated rehabilitation services in full-day kindergarten classrooms by building on existing pilot programs, to help children with special needs transition into school, a press release from Bartolucci said.

“We heard from families about what they need to support their children and youth with special needs, and we took action,” said Teresa Piruzza, Minister of Children and Youth Services.

“We remain committed to helping all children and youth in Ontario achieve their goals, and to fully participate at home, at school and in their communities.”
