The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is helping to fund a second season of TVO's “Hard Rock Medical,” a TV show set in Sudbury that showcases culture and talent from Northern Ontario.
Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci announced $712,000 in funding Wednesday morning at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. “Hard Rock Medical,” loosely based on NOSM, follows a group of medical school students as they train in Northern Ontario communities.
“I am proud of the success of this medical drama,” said Bartolucci. “By continuing to invest in film and television projects in Sudbury and the North, we are helping northerners develop their skills as cast and crew members and providing jobs close to home.”
Season 2 of “Hard Rock Medical” is expected to create 50 jobs.
“TVO is thrilled to once again access the (NOHFC) for Season 2 of 'Hard Rock Medical,” said Lisa de Wilde, chief executive officer of TVO, in a news release. “'Hard Rock Medical' ... exemplifies TVO's commitment to telling uniquely Ontario stories.”
