Grade 3 student Alexandre Rhéaume has been the backbone of his school's food drive.

Over the last two years, the eight-year-old boy, who attends École Notre-Dame de la Merci in Coniston, has collected more than 2,000 food items for the Coniston Food Bank by himself.

Since September alone, he's collected 1,300 food items for the food bank.

Rhéaume secured a letter of authorization from his school principal early in September, and then planned an itinerary that enabled him to canvass the various streets in Wahnapitae and Coniston, door-to-door.
