Celebrate our nation’s birthday at Science North with the whole family. Enjoy a full day and evening of family activities, games and entertainment, including a spectacular fireworks display.

This alcohol-free family day takes place on the grounds of Science North. Free family entertainment on the Vale main stage kicks off at 12:30 p.m. with an opening ceremony followed by a performance of the “O Canada.”

This year, Science North and KiSS 105.3 FM are teaming up to once again to put on the KiSS 105.3 Canada Day Band Jam. See the semi-finalists from the preliminary round performing on the main stage at Science North at 3 p.m.

The final round, with the top three performers, is scheduled for 7 p.m. As in previous years, the grand prize winner will be chosen based on audience applause. Come out and cheer on your favourite Sudbury bands.

Throughout the day, and during the dinner break, explore Science North’s new special exhibition Ice Age, and discover the giants that lived during that time with 10 full-sized animatronics.

The Special Exhibits Hall will be open July 1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information on Ice Age visit sciencenorth.ca.

Sit in air-conditioned comfort while enjoying the new giant screen film Titans of the Ice Age 3D in the Science North IMAX® Theatre, or come experience the night sky in our Planetarium with the new show We Are Aliens.

In honour of the Canada Day celebrations, purchase one IMAX ticket and get the second 50 per cent off.

Evening entertainment features headline act, Shawn Brady and The Northern Sons and Le Big Franco Show with Dayv Poulin.

Make sure to experience Voyageur Christian Pilon, a Canadian family entertainment performer, who will take you on a journey of movement and imagination.

Fill your day with face painting, crafts, science demonstrations and games, along with stilt walkers and buskers from Imaginez Ensemblez, and GymZone activities. The day also includes plenty of tasty Canada Day snacks to choose from, and much more.

And of course, the celebration will conclude with a fireworks display at approximately 10:15 p.m. (weather and wind permitting).
