Greater Sudbury Police and EMS responded to an accident involving a dump truck at Rainbow Concrete on Maley Drive this afternoon.

"What I understand is that there had been an accident at Rainbow Concrete and police and EMS responded, as well as the Ministry of Labour," said Staff Sgt. John Valtonen.

The incident has since been turned over to the Ministry of Labour, as Valtonen says he is under the impression that the accident occurred on company property.

"It would be the Ministry or Rainbow Concrete who would put out any kind of (media) release."

Valtonen explained that every investigation at a workplace must be reported to the Ministry of Labour, and from that point forward it's the Ministry's mandate as to whether or not an investigation is pursued.

While the accident did involve a motor vehicle, this incident does not fall under the Highway Traffic Act.

Sudbury.com has tried to contact Rainbow Concrete and the Ministry of Transportation but we have not yet received any response.
