The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) is inviting Greater Sudburians to attend the inaugural Resourceful City Series speaker event, an initiative generated by the GSDC’s recently released economic development strategic plan entitled From the Ground Up.

The first ever Resourceful City Series event will take place Monday, Nov.23, at Collège Boréal.  Doors open at 5 p.m., with the first speaker taking the stage at 5:30 pm.

The inaugural installment will focus on research and innovation and its importance to Greater Sudbury’s economy.

The evening will feature a keynote presentation from Dr. Rui Wang, Vice President, Research at Laurentian University, as well as talks by Dr. Nigel Smith (SNOLAB), Dr. Nadia Mykytczuk (Vale Living with Lakes Centre), Stephen Gravel (Cambrian Innovates), and, Kyle Borrowman (EnviroScience Inc.).

The Resourceful City Series will consist of speaker events and other initiatives focused on each of the sectors that make up Greater Sudbury’s economy and the key themes of the economic development strategic plan.

The goal of the series is to inspire Sudburians to embrace the plan and to play a part in driving the economic growth of their community, as we work toward our goal of 10,000 new jobs in 10 years.
