Safe Ride Home Sudbury volunteers responded to 163 calls for service over the past weekend.

Unfortunately, there were several refusals when callers were unable to provide valid evidence of insurance for their vehicles. Individuals who think they might need a Safe Ride Home are encouraged to check their documentation before they go out.

Organizers are expecting an increase in demand over the upcoming weekends as the Christmas parties and general holiday season activities accelerate. Phones will be open for calls from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays until the end of the year plus New Years Eve.

More volunteers are still needed. Application forms are available to all Tim Horton’s stores in the City of Greater Sudbury. People can volunteer by themselves, in which case they will be matched up with team members when they arrive, or they can make up their own team of family and friends.
