Award-winning secretary takes 'personal interest' in students

Whitney Muzyka, who works as an executive secretary in the office of Cambrian College's associate vice-president, student services, was recently awarded the President’s Award for Excellence in the Administrator category.

The President’s Award for Excellence – Administrator Category is given each year to an administrative employee who has been employed at the college for a minimum of three years and who demonstrates exemplary performance in all aspects of his/her position, according to a press release from the college.

Since Muzyka joined Cambrian College in 1987, she has held various positions throughout the college, most recently becoming the public face of the student services department.

She often acts as the first point of contact for students seeking assistance with academic and personal matters.

Muzyka takes a personal interest in their success and helps them to reach their full potential by ensuring they receive access to the services they need, the press release stated.

“Whitney is a dedicated, highly skilled professional whose work is complemented by her positive approach and her outstanding team work,” Cambrian College president Sylvia Barnard said, in a press release.

“She demonstrates a true commitment to the success of the entire Cambrian College community and is a great ambassador for the college. Congratulations Whitney.”
