Bad news for Sudbury drivers — gas prices have spiked more than four cents a litre over the past day, bringing most local gas stations to 109.9, according to GasBuddy.com.

Reg Houle Fuels in Hanmer and Esso in Azilda are still listed on the website as charging 105.3 and 105.9, respectively, but those reports were made by motorists almost a day ago, and have likely increased since then.

Besides that, the cheapest gas in town is now 106.9, at Independent at the Pumps on Lorne. The most expensive gas in town is 109.9, and that's at most local gas stations.

Gas prices remain the same in nearby Sturgeon Falls, however, where gas is now more than 10 cents a litre cheaper than it is in Sudbury. Prices there range from 97.6 to 97.9.

The average price of gas in Ontario today is 102.0, while the cheapest gas in the province, at 86.9, can be found in Muncey (near London).
