Battistelli's Your Independent Grocer has won both a Bronze and a Platinum Medal at the 2006 Canadian Independent Grocer of the Year, considered to be the Oscars in the grocery industry.
The awards were presented to owner and operator Brent Battistelli and his wife Cheryl Oct. 25, before 800 grocers and distributors at Grocery Innovations Canada 2006, the country's premier grocery trade exposition in Toronto.
Besides having an exceptionally clean and inviting store, Battistelli's was honoured for having one of the widest offerings of fresh product in Central Ontario. The judges also noted staff are very friendly and helpful.
"Brent Battistelli gives back to his community and is very involved participating in local events and fundraisers. A store that is a pleasure to walk through, with a huge selection and great staff, Battistelli's is the epitome of a successful and friendly independent grocery store," the judges said in a news release.
"Everyone at our store was overwhelmed at receiving the awards. We are truly proud to be recognized in our industry being grouped with some of the very best grocers across the country", said Brent Battistelli.
