Blaze damages Hanmer mobile home Monday

A fire in Hanmer on Monday night caused $10,000 damage to a mobile home, and left one man without a place to live. It took 16 firefighters from four Greater Sudbury fire stations to extinguish the blaze, which was reported just after 9 p.m.

A fire in Hanmer on Monday night caused $10,000 damage to a mobile home, and left one man without a place to live.

It took 16 firefighters from four Greater Sudbury fire stations to extinguish the blaze, which was reported just after 9 p.m. While fire damage to the home was moderate, smoke damage was assessed as severe.

In a release, Greater Sudbury Fire Services reminded residents that if you are using a wood-burning stove, it's vital to keep combustible materials a safe distance away.
