A Collège Boréal student was the recent recipient of the Millennium Scholarship, awarded by the Canada Millenium Scholarship Foundation.

“I am very honoured to have been recognized in such a way,” said Lisa Lambert, a Technologie en radiation médicale student (Medical Radiation Technologist). “I am starting a one-year placement in January and this will go a long way in helping me pay my rent.”

As well as the prestige of being named a Millennium Scholar, the award is accompanied by a cheque for $4,000.

This year, the Foundation has awarded some 951 scholarships to exceptional students throughout the country. The selection process is based on four criteria, including academic success, a sense of leadership, an interest in innovation and a sense of citizenship demonstrated through recognized public involvement in the community.

Denis Hubert, president of the college, said one of the keys to Boréal’s success is effort.

“If Collège Boréal has had its string of successes over so many years, it is because of the exceptional quality of its programs and professors, and also because of the hard work and sustained effort of our students. These make us proud. There have certainly been many examples over the last few months and no doubt there are many equally shining ones on the horizon.”
