Cambrian appoints new skills training dean

A longtime Cambrian College staffer has been appointed dean of the Schools of Skills Training and Community and Corporate Learning.

Louise Turcotte joined Cambrian in 2005 as associate dean, Schools of Skills Training and Community and Corporate Learning. She was named interim dean of the schools in July 2014.

She's a leader within both the college and Sudbury communities. She was recently appointed to the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum board of directors, and is a long-standing member and former Chair of the Provincial Heads of Apprenticeship Training and a member of the Aboriginal Apprenticeship Board of Ontario.

Turcotte holds a bachelor's degree in art in French and a bachelor's degree of education from the University of Ottawa. In addition, she has a post-graduate degree in business administration from Athabasca University.

“Louise brings extensive experience to the position through her involvement in many aspects of the college’s operations, including mentoring students and faculty, program and curriculum development and working closely with First Nation communities,” said Sonia Del Missier, Cambrian’s vice-president, academic.
“She has consistently demonstrated her passion for hands-on learning and academic excellence, and will continue to ensure the college is a leader in skills training.”
