Residents are advised that the Greater Sudbury Police Service Traffic Management Unit will be on patrol Canada Day, regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Officers will be monitoring roadways around Bell Park, Science North, Health Sciences North and several intersecting streets, to ensure vehicles are not parked in prohibited areas, grassed areas, on sidewalks, or obstructing driveways and/ intersections. Vehicles parked in prohibited areas will be ticketed and/or towed.

The boat launch and access roads to the beach areas off Ramsey Lake Road will also be monitored, to ensure that vehicles are not blocking access routes. Residents are reminded that the boat launch parking lot is for vehicles with boats only and not for general parking.

The following intersections will be closed starting at 10 p.m. until after the fireworks:

  • Paris Street will be closed at Ramsey Lake Road. Northbound traffic on Paris Street will be directed to take Centennial Drive. Only local traffic on Ramsey Lake Road will be permitted. After the fireworks, all traffic from Science North will be directed southbound (left) onto Paris Street.
  • Paris Street will be closed at Boland Avenue. Southbound traffic on Paris Street will be directed westbound (right) onto Boland Avenue.
  • Paris Street will be closed at York Street. Traffic from Ripple Street at York will be directed to Regent Street. Paris Street traffic will not be able to turn onto York Street. After the fireworks, all traffic from the York Street parking lots will be directed towards Regent Street.

With limited parking available, GSPS recommends using the Sudbury Transit shuttle service, which will once again be providing round trips to and from Science North from 11:45 a.m. until after the fireworks for the cost of $1.
