Updated: May 12, 4:00 p.m.

The Canadian Hearing Society announced on May 12 that a renewal collective agreement has been ratified by members of CUPE 2073, the local representing CHS's unionized employees.

"The Canadian Hearing Society is pleased that we have achieved a renewal collective agreement with CUPE Local 2073. The bargaining teams for both the union and CHS worked hard to reach this deal," said Julia Dumanian, President and CEO, Canadian Hearing Society.

"The organization's goal has always been to achieve a collective agreement that meets the interests of both its employees and the organization for the long term, while continuing to provide the much-needed services and programs for the clients it serves. We believe this agreement achieves these goals."

The agreement includes retroactive wage increases and a short-term disability program that provides all CHS employees with income protection in the event of an unforeseen injury or illness.

Effective Monday, May 15, full service will resume at Canadian Hearing Society offices across Ontario.

"We are looking forward to returning to business as usual and welcoming back staff at our offices across the province," said Gary Malkowski, Vice-President at CHS and Executive Labour Relations Team member.

"We appreciate our clients and the communities' patience during the last couple months. Next week, when full service resumes, we will incorporate new and expanded services into our programs to meet needs of more people across Ontario."
