A survey of 13,000 adults in 13 countries has found that Canadians aged 46 to 60 are having less sex than the global average.

The international survey was released today this week by Eli Lilly Canada.
According to the data, Canadians aged between 46 and 60 have sex an average of 1.35 times per week, compared to the global average of 1.41. They also fall well behind Portugal and Mexico where people in this age group have sex 1.96 and 1.89 times each week respectively.

Regardless of their age, Canadian respondents tend to plan when they will be intimate with their partner slightly more than the global average. While sex is usually a spontaneous activity for most people around the globe (86 per cent), only 79 per cent of all Canadian respondents see it as a spur-of-the-moment thing.

The online survey was conducted in August 2011 by SKIM Healthcare on behalf of Eli Lilly and Company among 13,063 respondents aged over 34. Participants in the survey were from 13 countries, with a minimum of 1,000 respondents per country: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, South Korea, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
