Students interested in careers in cancer care and research should mark this date on their calendars: Wednesday, Nov. 12. From 6 to 8 p.m., staff in the Regional Cancer Program at Sudbury Regional Hospital will welcome them at 41 Ramsey Lake Rd.

The career night, with information and representatives from Cambrian College, Collège Boréal, Laurentian University and the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences, is for secondary, post-secondary and medical students, guidance counsellors, teachers and professionals interested in making a career change.

All are welcome to learn more about careers in nursing, radiation therapy, dental oncology, research, social work, nutrition, psychology and other cancer-related fields.

"We are pleased to open our doors and showcase our facility to students interested in pursuing a health career in the cancer field," said program vice-president Bertha Paulse.

"Students will gain insight into some of the work being conducted by our excellent cancer research team, which is attracting international recognition. We have scientists from around the world who are making an impact on cancer research today."

The open house will feature displays and tours of the research lab and the radiation treatment area. There will be health care professionals on hand to answer questions and provide information to help students make informed decisions about their careers.
