Most parking meters in downtown Sudbury had yellow ribbons tied to them Wednesday to celebrate the launch of the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Month.

Daffodil Month is a national fundraising campaign that helps raise funds for the fight against cancer. Money raised during Daffodil Month helps patients and their families their communities.

More than 40 businesses in downtown Sudbury are participating in the campaign by decorating their storefronts in yellow.

Yellow daffodils will also be painted down all the sidewalks between the logos to highlight the hope of one day finding a cure for cancer.

The Canadian Cancer Society will host a launch event April 9 for the campaign from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the intersection of Durham and Cedar streets.

The society raised $45 million across Canada through its Daffodil Month campaign last year.
