If you’ve got the spirit and want to hear the songs of the season, the first annual Carolling Caravan, a fundraiser for Sudbury Action Centre for Youth (SACY), will be held Dec. 17.

The Caravan will feature Santa (Bill Crumplin of Knowhere Public House), his elf (Jordan Duplessis of Northern Law), carolling troubadours (Malik Miron of dadbOdd), and others.

Instant photos will be available with Santa or his elf for $20 each with all proceeds going to SACY.

There will be draw from the list of photo purchasers for a collection of gift certificates from Knowhere Public House, the Clarion Hotel, Hardrock 42, 46 North, and a free will from Northern Law.

This fundraiser is an extension of the open mic fundraiser that has been hosted by dadbOdd and the Everyman. Held at Knowhere Public House every other Thursday since the spring, the event has raised more $3,000.00 for SACY to date.

SACY began in 1986 as an employment program offering casual labour for young adults re-entering society from institutional settings. It was soon clear that many individuals needed specialized support and SACY began offering additional youth programs including: a drop-in with after school activities, a foodbank, youth outreach, free counselling, and an emergency overnight shelter. Additional services provided to all ages include; TG Innerselves for transgender support, housing case management, harm reduction outreach, and safe disposal education.

The Caravan schedule is as follows:

  • 12 p.m. Elgin/Durham Downtown Loop
  • 1 p.m. Eddie’s Restaurant, 1769 Regent Street;
  • 2 p.m. at 46 North Brewery 1275 Kelly Lake Road;
  • 3 p.m. at Hardrock 42, 117 Elm Street;
  • 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at live music at Knowhere Public House, 130 Elm Street.

Come down to any of these destinations to join in on the fun, get your picture taken with Santa and the gang, and help us raise money for a really important local charity in Sudbury.
