The Sudbury Catholic District School Board has taken about a half-million dollars from its reserve fund in order to balance its budget for the 2008/09 school year. This amounts to 0.8 per cent of the board’s grant revenue allocation.

“The new budget will allow us to meet Ministry of Education regulation
and obligations and we will continue to deliver quality services and programs to our students in order that they may achieve their maximum potential,” said director of education Catherine McCullough.

The approved budget of $67,306,178 will sustain the momentum that has been achieved by initiatives, such as Learning with Laptops, and complies with objectives set by the Ministry of Education with respect to the reduction of primary class sizes, said spokesman Regan Corelli in a press release.
