This weekend, Christ the King Church will celebrate their centennial with a pair of events.

On Nov. 26, at 3:15 p.m on the front lawn of the church the church will raise the Canadian flag in recognition of Canada’s 150th celebrations and the Papal flag reflecting Catholic heritage in Sudbury.

“Christ the King’s 100th Anniversary coincides with Canada’s 150th Anniversary.” said Brian Dixon, pastor at the Church of Christ the King.

“This flag raising marks both our Canadian and Catholic heritages.”

The Sudbury Singers will present a special concert on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m.

This musical journey, marking the beginning of the 100th Anniversary celebrations, will feature music that has been sung in the parish over the past century and will include favourite Christmas carols.

Admission is a donation to the Blue Door Soup Kitchen.

The concert will be followed by a pasta dinner fundraiser in the church lower hall. Dinner tickets are $15 each and are available at the parish office (705-674-6447).

“We invite everyone to join us as we begin this very special year of celebrations,” said Dixon
