Christ the King Church kicks off centennial celebration

Christ the King Church is celebrating its 100th anniversary this weekend.

The centennial celebration got underway with a flag raising ceremony at the church on Saturday afternoon.

A small contingent of the church's congregation showed up to watch members of the Royal Canadian Legion raise the Canadian flag and the Papal flag.

The celebration continues Sunday when, the Sudbury Singers will present a special concert at 2 p.m. at the church/  

This musical journey, marking the beginning of the 100th Anniversary celebrations, will feature music that has been sung in the parish over the past century and will include favourite Christmas carols. 

Admission is a donation to the Blue Door Soup Kitchen. 

The concert will be followed by a pasta dinner fundraiser in the church lower hall. Dinner tickets are $15 each and are available at the parish office (705-674-6447).
