Ron Henderson has been appointed the City of Greater Sudbury's general manager, citizen and leisure service.
The position is being filled on a temporary basis during Catherine Matheson’s two-year secondment to the North East Local Health Integration Network.
“Ron’s results-oriented management style, as well as his wealth of municipal government experience, will allow him to excel in the position of General Manager,” said Bob Johnston, the city’s interim chief administrative officer. “Ron brings with him 15 years of experience in managing a large and diverse portfolio, and that experience will be instrumental to his success in the role.”
Henderson has been the director of citizen services since 2000, and has been with the municipal government for 30 years.
He holds a professional accounting designation as well as a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University.
“I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that this two-year position offers,” said Henderson. “I look forward to working with all stakeholders, including council, staff, and the public, to create excellence and innovation in the provision of citizen and leisure services to our community.”
As general manager, Henderson will be responsible for Leisure Services, Children Services, and Citizen Services, including Libraries.
