We have all kinds of Canadians, Sudburians who are making those new citizens feel very, very welcomed to our city,” said Maxim Jean-Louis, president and CEO of Contact North.

Many of these new citizens were attracted to Canada because of the freedoms and opportunities to the country represents.

“We chose Canada because I think there's a better future for us here. There's better opportunity, I can become what I want here,” said Ananya Beruar.

“In India I would have to struggle more to have a better future, but I find in Canada it's really easy to get what you want once you're going at it."

Beruar is hoping to become an oncologist, but what attracted her family to Sudbury was the mining Industry.

“My dad  was a mining engineer in India too. So we came here because there was a really good opportunity for him to get a job here and once you're in the mining industry, Sudbury has a pretty good life.”
