Graduates from both Cambrian College and Collège Boréal have been nominated for Ontario Premier's Awards.
The awards program celebrates the achievements of Ontario college graduates who have made important social and economic contributions to communities throughout the world.
Among the nominees is NorthernLife.ca publisher Abbas Homayed. A graduate of Cambrian College, Homayed has been nominated in the community services category.
Other Cambrian nominees include: Mayor Brian Bigger (business), Suzanne Corbeil (technology), Nicole Godwin (recent graduate), North East Community Care Access Centre CEO Richard Joly (health services) and Scott Savarie (creative arts and design).
Three Collège Boréal graduates have also been nominated for the awards.
Daniel Madore, a graduate of Boréal's Electronic Engineering Technology program, as well as Christian Brunet and Véronique Brunet, graduates of the college's Funeral Services Education program, are among the 116 college graduates nominated this year.
“Our graduates are our honorary ambassadors,” said Boréal president Pierre Riopel, in a press release.
All Cambrian alumni nominated for the Premier's Awards were also recently presented with an Alumni Award of Distinction from Cambrian College.
Winners of the 2015 Premier’s Awards will be announced at a gala event on Nov. 16 in Toronto.
