City launches Species of the Month postcard campaign

The City of Greater Sudbury has launched the Species of the Month postcard campaign.

Postcards featuring a different plant or animal each month will be available at Citizen Service Centres and Libraries throughout 2015.

“The campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of Greater Sudbury’s ecological recovery efforts in improving the habitat for wildlife in our city,” said a news release. “The campaign is part of the city’s Biodiversity Action Plan, which was developed and is being implemented in partnership with Vale and Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations, a Glencore Company, as well as numerous organizations within the Greater Sudbury community.”

In addition, four posters featuring important types of local habitats will be released throughout the year. The first, Rock Barrens of Greater Sudbury, will be released later this month. Posters will be distributed to local schools and will be available in an interactive form on the city’s biodiversity web pages.
