The city is moving ahead with a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study that will review alternatives to service industrial properties along Fielding Road, Duhamel Road and Nelson Road with municipal water and sanitary sewer services.

The City of Greater Sudbury will host a public information centre on March 1 to introduce the EA. Everyone is invited to attend anytime between 6-8 p.m. at the T.M. Davies Community Centre, 325 Anderson Dr., Lively.

Fielding Road Industrial Park is located between Municipal Road 55 and Highway 17, and between Kelly Lake and the Walden Industrial Park. This area has been selected by city council for further review to address a current shortage of serviced industrial land in the community.

A small portion of the park is currently serviced with municipal water and sanitary sewers; however, the remainder must rely on private wells, field beds or other means of supplying sewer and water services.

Lack of municipal water and sanitary sewers has served as a deterrent to further development.

The objective of the Class EA Study is to review alternatives that will provide water and sanitary sewer service to properties along Fielding Road, Duhamel Road and Nelson Road.

The preferred alternative from this study will form the basis of a water and sewer servicing strategy for the Fielding Road Industrial Park.

Presentation materials will be available on the City of Greater Sudbury website www.greatersudbury.ca following the March 1 Public Information Centre.
