City Welding Sudbury Ltd. received an investment of $833,555 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation to support a business expansion. The announcement was made Oct. 1.

With this funding, City Welding has upgraded its existing facilities, as well as added a sandblasting and painting building. In addition, the company has acquired new equipment and has centralized its gas distribution system to improve operations and cut costs.

“By investing in this multi-service welding business, we are helping expand City Welding’s operations with the addition of new services and creating up to five well-paying jobs in Greater Sudbury,” Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci said in a press release.

This initiative is part of the government’s five-year Open Ontario plan to create jobs and economic opportunities in northern Ontario.

“Our investment is helping to further strengthen one of Sudbury’s long-standing businesses and will result in a more modern and efficient local employer,” Bartolucci said.
