Greater Sudbury will hold a news conference this afternoon to update residents on the local flood situation, with heavy rains expected to continue into the weekend, and many parts of the city reporting issues related to heavy rains.

Close to 100 mm of rain has fallen since Tuesday, the Nickel District Conservation Authority said in a news release Friday in which it extended the flood watch for Greater Sudbury.

“Levels and flows on all watercourses and waterbodies are extremely high and will continue to increase for some time to come,” the NDCA statement said.

Environment Canada's forecast calls for more rain today, tonight and tomorrow. In the last 24 hours Environment Canada, the Sudbury area received at least 25 mm of rainfall.
