City of Greater Sudbury employees have set a new fundraising record in their workplace, donating $50,490 to the Sudbury and District United Way/Centraide 2007 community campaign, said a news release.

"Fundraising is a way to give back to our community," said City of Greater Sudbury CAO Mark Mieto, in a news release. "The United Way/Centraide is very much needed and we are proud to be a contributing employer to this worthwhile cause."

The City of Greater Sudbury announced its $50,000 workplace campaign goal in October. A volunteer committee canvassed employees for direct contributions and hosted numerous special events to reach the final total.

"I am very proud of our campaign volunteers and every employee who supported the campaign," said Tim Beadman, Chief of Emergency Services and chair of the workplace campaign committee. "Our entire community benefits from the generosity of those who give."
