First Nations traditions from across the country were on full display at Wikwemikoong Unceded Territory on the Civic Holiday weekend. Hundreds of visitors packed the powwow grounds for the Wikwemikoong 57th Annual Cultural Festival, a weekend of competitive dancing, workshops, crafts and food.
Dancers from all over the country competed in rain and sunshine for thousands of dollars in prizes. Around the grounds it was a hive of activity as visitors and competitors alike sampled traditional dishes such as bannock, wild rice and game meats, browsed the artists tents, took in workshops and learned about First Nations cultures.
