During her first annual general meeting, Viviane Lapointe, the new executive director for Community Living Greater Sudbury (CLGS), said her 100 Day of Listening campaign yielded future directions the organization could take.

Community Living provides services and resources for people with development disabilities and their families.

CLGS held its AGM on June 26, the first for new executive director, Viviane Lapointe, who presented the results of her 100 Days of Listening plan during her report.

Lapointe said during the campaign, she “met with 203 people, visited all of the agency’s group homes, met with the union as well as MPPs, ministry officials and family members of people supported.”

“It didn’t take long to learn that we have a dedicated team of staff who are devoted to the people we support. They work hard to ensure our programs happen every day,” said Lapointe in a release to media.

Elaborating, she said the effort identified some future directions for CLGS, including being advocates for people living with developmental disabilities, having genuine engagement with communities and being the leader in change for person-directed services.

“Community Living Greater Sudbury is the largest agency in Sudbury. If we don’t lead the change, who will?” Lapointe said. “We are well poised to becoming a best practice model for the North. We have highly trained staff and we have the capacity with over 200 employees.”

Four new Directors were also elected during the meeting: David Chisolm, a chartered accountant with Greater Sudbury Utilities; Zachary Courtemanche an associate lawyer at Weaver Simmons; Allan Giles, director of business banking with Northern Credit Union, and; Joshua Watson, a project management professional in the mining construction industry.

This year’s recipients for Outstanding Direct Support Professionals went to Adriana Morin, Mayank Patel and Wade Moxam. The recipients for the Outstanding Individuals we Support Awards went to Bobbi Jo Austad, Cathy Brideau, Richard Chisnell and Marc Boulay.
