Community plays together in memory of Jordan Fram

Hockey event raises $9,500 to help kids of realize their hockey dreams

Friends, family and neighbours came together at the Pass. Shoot. Score. event to show how sports can have a big impact in the community.

The annual hockey event held in the memory of Jordan Fram, an avid hockey player who passed away in a mining accident at Stobie Mine seven years ago, has raised $9,500 this year for the Jordan Fram Memorial Fund.

“We are truly grateful to everyone who supported the Pass. Shoot. Score. event and the Jordan Fram Memorial Fund,” said Jordan’s sister, Briana Fram, in a news release. “It is touching that our family, friends and community have continued to come together to celebrate Jordan’s life and share in his memory.

"Jordan had a heart filled with love, and he made sure everyone felt that love. I don’t think he could be any prouder of what has been accomplished in his honour.”

The hockey event was held at Countryside Arena on what would have been Jordan’s 33rd birthday and was followed by another event at the Caruso Club. Both teams sported “JF” jersey’s, and all players wore No. 8, to honour their friend.

The funds raised through the event will be used to assist local children and their hockey dreams by providing them with equipment or helping with registration fees via the Sudbury Minor Hockey Association.

“Hockey brought a lot of joy to his life, and he would only want the same for children in our community,” Fram said.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services and Mr. Santa Claus himself made an appearance on a fire truck, handing out candies and posing for photos.

The Jordan Fram Memorial Fund has raised nearly $13,000 and has helped 50 children realize their hockey dreams.
