This week is National Commuter Challenge Week.

Instead of driving to work, people across Canada are invited to find alternate means of transportation. According to commuterchallenge.ca, that could mean walking, cycling, car pooling, taking transit or telecommuting.

The national organization is inviting people to register on its website for the chance to track reduced daily air pollutants, increased health and social benefits, as well as helping participants save money and have a positive impact on their community.

On June 5, Rainbow Routes will be sending a pedestrian, a cyclist, a transit user ad a carpooler from the Tom Davies Square courtyard to the lobby of Health Sciences North.

Several people who use alternative transportation methods will be on hand to discuss their experiences.

Counc. Claude Berthiaume will even share his experience taking transit from Chelmsford to the event.
