Construction report for week of May 3

The city of Greater Sudbury will continue construction on Paris Street, Lasalle Boulevard, and Falconbridge Highway the week of May 3.

As part of the Paris Street construction efforts, the northbound curb lane will remain closed between Van Horne and Elm Streets, and the southbound lane beside the median will be closed between Elm and Brady Streets as the city works to remove the median.

The eastbound curb lane on Brady Street will be closed between Shaughnessy Street to the west side of the Brady Square entrance, and Larch and Cedar Streets are reduced to one lane at the east Paris Street intersections.

In New Sudbury, Lasalle Boulevard's westbound curb lane will be closed between Montrose Avenue and Rideau Street as the city works on the curb. In addition, the two westbound lanes will remain closed from Paquette Street to about 100 metres east of Barry Downe Road.

Falconbridge Highway will be reduced to one lane in stages as work completes from Garson-Coniston Road to Cedargreen Drive. All lanes will be open after 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with all lanes open again at 3 p.m. on Friday.

In addition to the above construction, the intersection of Barry Downe Road and Maley Drive will be reduced to one lane on May 3 for engineering work, but will be open during the peak hours of 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Traffic delays for rock blasting at the corner of Paris Street and Nepahwin Avenue should be expected, though there will not be any blasting during peak hours.
