Correction: Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie parish reorganization

In a June 28 article on NorthernLife.ca, it was stated that Holy Trinity and St. Anthony churches would close and its membership would amalgamate with the parishes of other churches.
In a June 28 article on NorthernLife.ca, it was stated that Holy Trinity and St. Anthony churches would close and its membership would amalgamate with the parishes of other churches. This was not an entirely accurate reflection of the reorganization of parishes in the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, as stated in a June 27 press release issued by the Diocese.

To clarify, as of Jan. 1, the congregation of Holy Trinity will amalgamate with the congregation of Christ the King, but there will be two sites of worship shared between one pastor and one part-time assistant priest. The church itself will not close.

St. Anthony's congregation will merge with the congregation of Our Lady of Hope on Jan. 1. The church will not close, but will share a pastor and part-time priest with Our Lady of Hope.

NorthernLife.ca apologizes for the misunderstanding.
