Mike Jakubo, candidate for Ward 7, says voters must choose results over ridicule and co-operation over conflict.

Ward 7 incumbent Mike Jakubo said it takes teamwork to make city council effective.

Each councillor is only one vote among a council of 12, meaning in order to be an effective voice for your ward, councillors must be able to see eye to eye in order to advance the city.

“Those elected are only 1 of 13 votes on any decision. Only by collectively seeing the forest, not the trees, will Ward 7 and our City be able to fully realize it’s true potential.”

With the election imminent, voters must choose fact over fiction, qualification over quagmire, experience over experiment, results over ridicule and cooperation over conflict.

Do you know that Ward 7 is the largest of Greater Sudbury’s 12 wards?

Did you know that Greater Sudbury fully contains Lake Wanapitei; the largest freshwater lake within a City’s borders in the world! And that Wanapitei is fully within Ward 7?

These realities speak to the inherent challenges which Ward 7 and our City face; the shear size of our land mass, road network and water/sewer lines.

Challenges like these cannot be micro-managed.

They are the challenges that residents at the thousands of doors I have knocked on are telling me I have done a great job of managing, all the while seizing the opportunities that have come Ward 7’s way. They are pleased with the change they voted for in 2014.

It all means that on Monday the 22nd, Ward 7 must choose fact over fiction, qualification over quagmire, experience over experiment, results over ridicule and cooperation over conflict.

Those elected are only 1 of 13 votes on any decision. Only by collectively seeing the forest, not the trees, will Ward 7 and our City be able to fully realize it’s true potential.

We are all only 1 of 161,000 people, our house is just one of 70,000, the portion of road in front of that house is a small part of our road network which spans over 3,600 kilometres.

So let us accept that in order for all of our potential to be realized, our City cannot be about any single person, business, road or facility. Together, we all make Greater Sudbury a strong and vibrant community and we all have a collective responsibility for each other and all of our infrastructure because we are all in this together!
