A candidate for council in Ward 12 has announced that he is dropping out of the race.

Leo Frappier told Sudbury.com that ‘unforeseen circumstance’ was to blame for his withdrawal.

“I truly believe that if I'm unable to give 100 per cent of my time to my constituents, I should remove myself from the electoral process,” Frappier wrote.

The full text of his letter is below.

Due to unforeseen circumstance I, Leo Frappier, must remove my name as a candidate for Ward 12 in the municipal elections in Greater Sudbury.

I would like to apologize to my team who spent hours working on my campaign and to all those who considered supporting me in this election. I truly believe that if I'm unable to give 100 per cent of my time to my constituents, I should remove myself from the electoral process.

We have many notable and well versed candidates running for our wonderful city and I wish them all good luck.

Again I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Leo Frappier, Ward 12
